
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born on 22nd March 1976 is an American actress. Her numerous accolades include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She also received two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine listed her as one of the top 100 influential individuals in the world in both the years of 2015 and 2006. Forbes also named her as one of the 100 most powerful Women Worldwide in the year 2019. Forbes has named her the world's most wealthy actor in 2021. She has an estimated amount of $400 million in her net worth. Witherspoon made her screen debut in The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, Witherspoon made her name with her character of the supporting actor in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for playing Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Elle Woods, a comedy comedy (2001) as well as its sequel in 2003 brought her greater recognition. She also appeared in Sweet Home Alabama (2002) which was a romantic comedy. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career, in which her only box office hit was the romantic comedy Water for Elephants (2011), Witherspoon made a comeback by directing and producing Cheryl Strayed in the drama Wild (2014) in which she was nominated again for Best Actress at the Academy Awards. Witherspoon has continued to work mostly on television and produced and starred in many female-led adaptations of books under Hello Sunshine. This includes the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019) in addition to The Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present) and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020). The Primetime Emmy Award was won for Outstanding Limited Series in the first of these series. She also wrote and directed the movies Gone Girl (2014), and Where the Crawdads Sing (222). She is a member of the Children's Defense Fund's Board and was also honored to serve as the chairperson of the Avon Foundation's foundation's charitable cause for women in 2007.
