Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American actor, voice actress, director producer and vocalist. An attractive, clever and gifted actress, she's a great example to Asian actors aspiring to become big names in Hollywood. Following a string of appearances in television shows that were popular, she became famous when she was cast on the Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. The fame she gained from the show was translated into film roles such as Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. She gave a stellar performance as Japanese gangster O-Ren Ishii (Quentin Tarantino) in Kill Bill Volume 1 by Quentin Tarantino. In this period she was the main character in some failures in the field such as Rise: Blood Hunter. Then, she was able to play characters that were prominent in animation films, such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason's character on Cashmere Mafia, a small screen film, failed to yield outcomes. Southland was a highly acclaimed police drama that Liu starred regularly, was a role which helped to reestablish she is famous as an actor. Liu is careful when choosing roles in order to avoid being a stereotype within an industry that is highly competitive. Though she's extremely proud of her culture, she does not let the fact that she is from China limit her creative abilities.
