Taylor Swift, the rarest pop star, is one who has managed to cross from the country genre to mainstream culture, and has become an iconic figure in the pop culture. The singer also swept all over the world during the course of her journey. Swift shed her roots in the country genre like a second skin and showed that she had the best pop sensibility of the time. Swift was the only musician/singer to follow the zeitgeist of popular music when she went on tour. Swift's talents could be seen in her first tracks, including the neodue Tim McGraw. But on her sophomore album Fearless released in 2008 Swift discovered the person she was and reach an audience that was large. Fearless was hugely popular not only in the United States which is where its Top Ten singles Love Story, and You Belong with Me helped it to break six platinum records as well as around the globe. It was a huge success in Canada, Australia as well as the U.K. Swift's new album, Speak Now, released just two years after the previous one, built on this momentum. It helped propel Swift to superstardom. Her popularity only increased through her subsequent three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 which saw her move into the realm of pop where she already belonged. While she reduced the production of her folklore album, and Evermore releases in 2020 she was nevertheless at the forefront of pop music.
